Exceptional assessment results from Denplan Excel

We had our Denplan Excel assessment on Thursday 14th September 2017 after several weeks of preparation. The Denplan Excel Quality Programme has been designed to ensure that a consistent patient focused level of service is being provided at a high standard. We are proud to be Excel accredited and are the only practice in Caversham that has achieved this certification.  It helps us attain the high standards we expect of ourselves thus allowing us to provide patients with excellent dentistry in a relaxing atmosphere where everyone is welcome.

As a dentist it’s always a little nerve wracking welcoming a highly trained advisor into the surgery. Dick Langley arrived with his familiar Welsh accent and put us all at ease at once. He admired our practice and surgeries and quizzed Louise in detail about all our policies and processes.  Whilst here he assessed nine key areas;

  1. infection control
  2. management of emergencies
  3. waste management
  4. practice management
  5. radiology
  6. staff training
  7. quality assurance
  8. record cards
  9. certificates and documentation

Dick ensured we are adhering to the professional guidelines we are required to follow, checked our cross infection procedures are of a high standard and inspected our medical emergency equipment to ensure we can look after anyone who falls ill whilst in our care. He looked at our waste management and made sure we are disposing of all items in a safe and environmental way and was impressed with the level of organisation our practice is managed with. He audited the quality of our X rays and the procedures we have in place to keep patients and staff safe from radiation. He also looked at our clinical notes and was impressed by the level of detail and care we provide for our patients.

On completing the assessment he gave us our results and we are very proud to announce that we scored 100% in every category bar one where we achieved 97%.
