Sunday 14th December, Louise our Practice Manager joined over a 1000 other Santa’s to run Reading’s first 5k Santa run.

The money raised was donated to the Alexander Devine children’s hospice and The Duchess of Kent hospice two fantastic charities.

Louise completed the course in 31 minutes a time to be proud of.

We are proud to be located in the Caversham area and are pleased to be part of the community. As such we would like to sponsor those of you from Caversham participating in sponsored events. This could be completing your first 5k run, a child doing a sponsored bike ride, a school fete or a charity event that you are putting on. Whatever it is we’d like to hear about it.

If you would like to be considered please send the details to titled sponsorship request and we’ll see what we can do.

On Tuesday 18th November the 1st Caversham Rainbows visited the practice.
The group all looked around the surgery, and we all able to ask questions and have a ride in one of our dental chairs.
Our practice manager Louise went through good brushing techniques, oral health and diet advice and each of the girls received a good bag with all things dental in to take home.
They even brought their special mascot to visit us.

Sunday 17th August saw our principal dentist Katy and practice manager Louise head down to Reading Abbey Rugby Club to take mouthguard impressions for some of the children who are about to start playing contact rugby.

We did a special offer on the mouthguard’s, with a fee that just covered the lab bill, to try and encourage the children (and their parents) to get a properly fitted mouthguard (see our treatment page for more details on the benefits).

It was great to see the kids running around and enjoying themselves, who knows, we may have just provided the first mouthguard to a future England international!

Christmas Cards
We have chosen not to send Christmas cards to our patients and associates this year but are instead making a donation to the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

The NSPCC have launched their Christmas Call for Help Appeal and we have chosen to support this.
“Christmas should be the happiest time of the year, but thousands of scared and lonely children will call ChildLine for help. It costs £4 to answer each call. That’s why we’ve launched our Christmas Call for Help Appeal. With your help we can be there for every child that needs us.”

If you’d also like to support ChildLine for find out more information please click here

We would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Our patient Juliette Cottam ran the Reading Half Marathon this March and we were pleased to help with her sponsorship efforts. Juliette raised over £1,150 for Parkinson’s UK and in very wet and rainy conditions completed the course in an excellent time of 1 hour 57 minutes. If you would also like to sponsor Juliette her just giving page is Further information about Parkinson’s disease and the great work the charity do can be found here

Friday 2nd February saw us ‘Rock Up In Red’ in support of the British Heart Foundation. The team dressed in red for the day, (as much as we could) and raised some sponsorship money in the process. More importantly by joining in with the campaign we helped to raise awareness about heart disease. For more information please visit the charities website –

We were delighted to offer a Christmas prize in the competition. It’s a great website highlighting all the news and information about local businesses, schools, clubs and events.

Our winner was really pleased with her Oral B Triumph 5000 toothbrush and accessories worth over £150!

ellie barnesWe are delighted to sponsor Ellie Barnes, a local personal trainer and triathlete. Through hard work and dedication Ellie has qualified as GB age-grouper to represent Great Britain at the World Triathlon Championships in New Zealand in October 2012.

It is an entirely self-funded trip though, and Ellie needs assistance with flights, accommodation, kit and support. Ellie is an inspirational athlete and we’re pleased to help in some small way.
